Penny with  Jane

My first dog Penny, was my best friend. I decided in 2006 to follow my love of dogs and work with them. I set up a dog walking business in and around Dulwich and my business expanded very quickly through personal recommendations. I did not take on many clients because I knew I also wanted to be a trainer; which would require attending seminars, courses and practical training in order to learn more about dogs...that learning never ends.

After attending many courses my research lead me to the one person I wanted to learn from and it was my good fortune that he lived and worked in SE London. I trained with him and he is now my mentor and friend. He subsequently invited me to help run his classes in 2011. I started my own school in Dulwich in January 2013.

I have a Canine Behaviour and Psychology Diploma with Distinction.

I am very interested in looking at dogs in a holistic way - this includes their diet and well being. I am qualified in 2nd degree Reiki and I trained with James French in the Trust Technique.

I also have a diploma in Canine First Aid.

My love for dogs started when I was a child and over the years my family have had many breeds including Newfoundland, Bull Mastiff, Border Collie, Yorkshire terrier and my big love - German Shepherds.  I have had four German Shepherds since leaving home. My first, ‘Snurge’ started my interest in dog training. We attended every week and as time went on I helped with the training and demonstrating in the puppy classes for several years. I’ve been lucky to be able to take all of my dogs to work with me. I’ve worked at Whites Pet Centre in Sydenham for over 35 years owning it for the last 15 years. This is where I met Jane and we have become great friends over the years. When I got Dexter (my current German Shepherd) I went to Jane’s foundation classes and this reignited my interest in dog training.  Jane then became my mentor and I have been training with her ever since.  I have been running the foundation classes alongside her and then on my own since 2019.  Jane has now asked me to teach these courses whilst she continues to do the puppy and pre- puppy consultations and does more research into advanced canine behaviour.
